The posted salary range is not what they hire at; everyone starts at the low number. (The high number is the salary cap for the position once you’ve worked there for several years unless they raise it.) It’s union-controlled, so there’s no real negotiating it.
They asked if X day and Y time would work for an interview. It did, so I agreed. They were respectful of my time and started when stated. A few people interviewed me at once. They read off a sheet of questions that seemed standard and wrote down my responses.
They offered me the position pending a background check. They did call my references during that.
