      Embedded QA Engineer Interview

      26 Aug 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Palo Alto, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Plume Design (Palo Alto, CA)

      Interview

You will not know the procedure until you reach the onsite after phone interview. Recruiter does not respond on time or does not feel like responding to emails unless extremely urgent. Feels like a suspense game. Even the topics he mentioned to be prepared were never adequate and missed out giving important information beforehand. But He appeared completely different onsite , giving a lot of tips and insight (before the start of interview.) 4 people interviewed me after a brief intro and talk with the recruiter. One interviewer was completely preoccupied looking into her phone constantly and had not even seen my resume before. She expected typical bookish answers and corrected me when I was off by few decimal numbers on the answers. She did not know a tool i had used earlier and was not very open about accepting new ideas. Another interviewer had an extremely thick asian accent which was almost impossible to decipher! (Kept pardoning myself asking him to repeat every time...plus he asked too many trick questions/ on spot or so I thought...I barely understood what he was talking) and tried using a lot of head and hand gestures. Other interviewer's scenario was realtime, but he had only one question...Just did not get what he expected and what I had to answer. It was vague...and my memory failed me in talking about a couple specific tools though I had worked with them previously. A simple google search would have led me to them if i needed them in the future...But I already felt he was disappointed.. The last interviewer had already left since it was now half hour later than scheduled (since i was late due to unavoidable circumstances which I told the recruiter before starting). When I heard the senior person would call in and not be face to face, I was crest fallen. I felt it was a charade & when I spoke to him this feeling only got stronger since he didn't seem interested at all. I was a bit distracted thinking if I had already been rejected and probably did not answer well since I did not feel things went well. The phone line was not too clear either. Anyway it was very brief with him an he finished in 15 mins as against 45 mins with others. @Plume, If you are all reading, I am being honest and only expressing what I experienced since I never heard back from you after repeated mails to recruiter.
