      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      31 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lisbon, Lisbon District
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Pipedrive (Lisbon, Lisbon District) in Mar 2017

      Interview

It started with a one-on-one, followed by a challenge and after some time I had the most strange interview questions. They may be a great company but aren't NASA. It seems that don't give any value to good code, design patterns etc... They just have interest in dev-ops and technical stuff.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

      How does a computer work?

      Question 2

What is latency and given the distance in km from Portugal to NY and the speed of light, what should be the minimum latency?

Thank you for your feedback! Good code and use of design patterns are very important qualities that we look for in all candidates including at junior developer level. With the amount of customer growth that we experience, a broader understanding of storage, networking, security and how computers generally work becomes essential to candidates above mid backend developer level. Based on your description you would do great as a developer but to get to a senior level the areas mentioned above need attention as well.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      15 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Prague
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Pipedrive (Prague) in Oct 2018

      Interview

I got contacted by the person in charge for building the local team ("I need to hire 100 people in 3 years"). Even though it was clear that I did not have experience in their specific tech stack, he wrote that at the end of the day a developer is a developer and that would not be a problem. At the on-site interview, I talked to him - a very nice and friendly person, and to a HR representative from the headquarters, who candidly admitted that they not only want to have employees from different countries for a diversified environment - which is good - but also often relocate them from abroad, so "they have to leave their families and friends, and we can become their family, and they will spend with us their free time" - which sounds much creepier and manipulative than she probably intended. A couple of hours after the interview, I got an email saying that they preferred other candidates with more relevant experience. So much for a developer is a developer, but fair enough.
