The process started with a test assignment, which I completed and submitted. After that, I was invited to a short interview.
The interview lasted about 3 minutes. There were no questions about my skills, portfolio, or the test assignment. Instead, the conversation focused entirely on personal background — where I'm from, my citizenship, and where my relatives were born and grew up.
The rejection was based not on my own citizenship or nationality, but on the origins of my family members. I understand the studio's sensitivities given the current situation, but screening candidates based on relatives' backgrounds, without any upfront disclosure of such requirements, feels inappropriate. Completing a test assignment before these basic eligibility questions were even asked was also a poor use of everyone's time.
Pros: The overall process was fast.
Cons: Eligibility criteria were not communicated before the test assignment. The interview felt more like a background check than a professional conversation.
