I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Pinecrest Academy (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in Oct 2021
Interview
The interview process was long and extensive which is why I gave the difficulty rating a "Difficult". Pinecrest reached out to me in October 2021 and offered me a job by February 2022 for the following school year.
Everyone I met in the interview process was nice and welcoming and spoke highly of the school. Most of the interviews were conducted via zoom from October 2021-January 2022 and the final interview was an entire day on campus in February. The final interview was an actual day of interviews. I was asked to give a demo lesson and then I sat in a conference room for most of the day (5 hours) interviewing with all of the admins and department chairs. I was given lunch and a tour of the campus as well.
After months of interviews with the school and being offered the job after the interview day, I turned down the offer since they could not meet my salary requirements. I was disappointed because I felt as if my time had been wasted and they could have brought up salary before the entire day of interviews. They countered slightly but said to make what I'm currently making I would need to be a club advisor or take on additional afterschool activities. In other words, work more hours and spend less time with family to make what I'm already making. That was an immediate red flag to me because they kept convincing me that the school is great and basically overlook salary.
As much as I care about the kids and enjoy teaching, I need to make a living too. I honestly think I dodged a bullet by declining the offer because I think it says a lot about an employer when they're unwilling to match a salary when you clearly have the experience and went through such an extensive interview process. I can only foreshadow what a career on that campus would look like..
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Interview questions were typical of a teaching position.
The interview process went very smooth. They were were very friendly and prompt. I was not kept waiting with a decision and overall the experience was very pleasant. The head of school was extremely nice. It would be great if all interviews could be this positive.
I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pinecrest Academy (Cumming, GA) in Jan 2012
Interview
had 2 person over the phone interviews, paid for me to come out & stay, requested several letters of recommendation. interview lasted from nine am until one pm. they told me that health insurance would be fine since I was "healthy" they didn't tell me that the coverage only covered 30% of the cost of prescriptions and employees had to meet a $3,000 deductible each month. Had I known this information, I would have never taken the job.
