I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Petit Cafe (Oakland, CA) in Nov 2022
Interview
Very misleading and unethical business practices. After a great in-person interview, the Owner asked if I could come in the week of Thanksgiving for a trial shift. I told her via email what my salary expectations were. She asked if we could talk on the phone about it. We had a long phone call during which we came to a compromise regarding the salary. A few days later, I unfrotuantely had to reschedule my trail shift from Tuesday to Friday due to my child getting sick. On Wednesday she emailed me, telling me again that she was excited for me to start, and that she was drafting the offer letter that week. If the trial shift went well, she'd give me the offer letter to sign on Friday. Late Thursday night, she emailed me telling me she had given the job to someone else. This is insane. I turned down 3 other job offers for this job. During previous experiences interviewing at places, they offered transparency letting me know they were still interviewing other candidates. Not only would they tell me this, but they'd certainly not negotiate salary with me if they were interviewing other candidates. This was such a disappointment, and I felt I was treated very poorly. These are the facts of my experience. You may have a different one.
