The phone interview and in-person interview were fine but the process after the fact was very odd and unenjoyable. After my interview which went pretty average, the SDR manager concluded the interview by saying something along the lines of "I will talk to the recruiter to set up an interview with the VP, we just need to see when they're available blah blah blah". I left thinking that I would be hearing back from them the next day or on Monday about when this interview took place. I didn't hear anything back for about 5 days. I reached out via email and phone and I had asked for feedback and ultimately didn't hear anything back at all. Eventually, they sent a very short email saying they were going forward with other candidates. Now, my issue isn't with getting rejected, (I'm trying to break into tech sales and have no prior experience so I understand that I might not be the most desirable hire) but it was with the inconsistency of information received after the interview and the ultimate answer I received days later. I didn't understand bringing up a specific next step and saying you would communicate to another person to set it up if you weren't going to do so. In my previous job, whenever I would conduct an interview and I wasn't sure about the prospect and wanted to interview others I would close the interview with some sort of "I will talk with HR/the recruiter and we will give you an answer in X days". Felt weird and frustrating to be told that another interview would be planned and scheduled only to get rejected. days later.
