The first 2 rounds of the interview process went extremely well until I got to the final round. The first interview was a simple phone interview and the second interview was a zoom call with the Creator Partnerships Lead. Once I advanced to the final round, I was supposed to be meeting with the CEO.
About 5 minutes before my interview, I get an email from the executive assistant telling me they are cancelling the interview because "the company decided to go in a different direction in respect to the role." At first, I was extremely disappointed as this meeting was scheduled 1 week in advance and I put a lot of time in preparing. I found it interesting that they wanted to make this company wide decision 5 minutes before my interview as that is not a decision you just make spontaneously. The professional thing to do would have been to still interview me in respect of my time and then give me an update about the role, regardless if that decision was already made. It's crazy how these companies think candidates are so disposable. Mind you, the role is still up, so I know this had nothing to do with "company changes" but more so a personal matter towards me.
As a post candidate, it leaves a really bad impression on the CEO, the company and how they operate business. I've read previous reviews, so maybe I dodged a company that wasn't right for me anyway. With that being said, I will never ever apply to Pearpop again.
