I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Paxos (New York, NY) in Jun 2022
Interview
What started great ended as a disappointment. I was contacted by Paxos recruiters and although initially I wasn't giving much thought about the outcome of the interview I got increasingly interested as I started to meet new people in the process.Everyone seemed to be outgoing and friendly, which gave the impression of a positive working environment. After passing all the steps when I was expecting the offer, I was told that they'd consider me for a higher position and would like me to have one last talk to one of their VPs. I agreed, but asked if I'd still have the offer for which I applied in case the interview for the new position didn't work out. Paxos didn't provide the answer, and I, under the positive impressions of previous interviews, agreed to do that one last interview.
My last interviewer, who is obviously trying to build Paxos engineering team, was very mellow, almost on the verge of being lethargic. He didn't really ask any questions but it was more like stating half articulated utterances about CI/CD services and from the intonation I tried to decipher what his intention was.
The whole interview was my monologue on CI/CD and only at the end I understood from his short interruptions that they had some performance issues with their build service. After the interview I got the lame response that they've decided to change their strategy and will not follow up with an offer.
I thought initially Paxos were different, but they are not. Your changes depend on encountering people with bloated egos.
