Screening call with recruiter Tumy who was fantastic and responsive throughout the process. Then a virtual interview with Head of TA and People Lead.
I did not do well with the virtual and I knew it. I had a death in the family over the weekend, and I was not able to register any thoughts or articulate my extensive HR experience despite having prepped the week before. It’s my own fault and I’m highly disappointed as I think the company would’ve been a great fit.
The company provides a list of interview topics in advance to help you prepare for the virtual - which is great.
There was one question that threw me off and it went something like: Describe a time you had to learn business acumen to (help a client or carry about an initiative). Something to that effect. The “learn business acumen” part was oddly phrased IMO. Perhaps utilizing “use” rather than “learn” might be less confusing for interviewees.
Overall, it was a good experience and eye-opening for myself. I’ve been interviewed many times and have been a panel member in hundreds of interviews. I never thought I’d stumble so badly.
