This is the first company I’ve been ghosted by.
My first interview was with a recruiter, and that was a 30 minute phone screen that went well, which lead me to be moved forward and meet with the hiring manager.
My interview with the hiring manager went really good. She focused more on personality than the day to day operations that come with the roll. She confirmed she would be moving forward. Once we were finished, she provided her email address for any questions I may have, and I sent a thank you email a few hours after.
A week went by and I never heard back from the recruiter. I reached out and asked for an update and I was told the process was put on pause for everyone interviewing since the hiring manager has become ill.
Another week goes by and I reach out again after seeing the job being reposted. No one responded to me. I was really looking forward to work for this company based on the company values and erg groups, so I sent another follow up email.
I finally hear back from a different recruiter and was informed the company has had some changes recently. This new recruiter updated me and told me she will reach out to the hiring manager and will keep me posted.
I never heard back. My advice? During these hard times of so many layoffs, don’t ghost and string people along.
