I had a long phone interview with the hiring manager. It went very well. So I came in the next day and we had another long interview just the two of us and then a third person came in. It went extremely well. She asked me to come back to meet the person I'd be managing and as well as the CFO. And then again with the two women i had interviewed with previously. On that visit I was asked to prepare a full on plan for the year. I spent an incredibly long time on that and felt it was very comprehensive. So after that we talked about benefits and salary and they asked for 5 references. They use this incredibly bizarre process where they just ask survey questions with rankings. No context allowed for answers. All my references thought it was a terrible way to do it. Regardless, they really seemed to love me in all my interviews. I mean really liked everything I said. So I had a call scheduled with her where I thought they were going to make me an offer and the night before I saw that the job — which had been removed from job boards — was reposted. During our call she told me that they were not making me an offer and didn't think it was the right fit. I felt very led on as nothing int he process made me think it wasn't a good fit. She gave a lame excuse like one of my references "did me no favors". I went to my references and asked and they all said they gave nothing but glowing remarks. Overall, it was just a big waste of time and I actually feel like I dodged a bullet by not getting the offer.
