At The Parr Company, we like doing our interviews with a big group of people who will be working with the person being hired. Often, that means we have people in the room who very much do NOT understand the position, as well as people who are not experts at interviewing others.
In the case of Parr, we do only have a couple of people who understand the inner workings of fleet. But we do have a variety of people who need to get along with, and work well with, the person that does end up being hired. We find that a person’s ability to deal with that assortment of people, and respond to some random questions, says a lot about a persons ability to thrive after hire.
