      Junior Risk Analyst Interview

      22 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Optiver in Jun 2020

      Interview

After submitting my CV and cover letter, I got invited for a 30-minute interview where I had to introduce myself, talk about my motivation, and got to hear a little bit about the company. 2 weeks later I had another interview, this time with someone from the risk department. It was much more technical, with questions about financial markets and securities, and also a logic/math kind of question. The interviewer was very nice and helpful throughout, even when I made some mistakes, he would help me surpass it. The 3rd step was an online SHL test, 30 questions for 34 minutes, quite challenging. Unfortunately, I didn't pass it. The overall experience was good though.

      Interview

The interview process started with a math fluency test. After the math test there was a phone screening with HR, covering the basics of your resume with some competency based questions. Next interview was with someone on the team where we were dealing with more technical questions. Make sure you are updated with the current news and basics of options.

      Junior Risk Analyst Interview

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Optiver (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I applied online and received a request to take a math test. The format was 8 minutes for 80 arithmetic questions. After that I had a phone interview with a rep from HR consisting of behavioral questions: why finance, why risk, etc. I passed onto the next round for a technical phone interview with an Analyst. These questions were more technical regarding economics, some options math, and brainteasers. They didn't expect a lot of options math knowledge, but I had financial mathematics listed on my resume so they asked a few questions. Final round in Chicago consisted of a coding test and then a sequences test. After that was two hour-long interviews with two analysts in each. I felt the second was more of the nitty gritty options theory and a bit more difficult. Overall, everyone in the office was great and I enjoyed the experience.

      Question 1

What is the Delta of a long straddle position on an asset? The Gamma?
      Answer question

      Question 2

I roll a 6-sided die and receive 6 times the face value in dollars. I roll a 20-sided die and get twice the face value. Which game do you pick and why?
