      Children's Sports Photographer Interview

      2 Feb 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Manassas, VA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Olson Photography (Manassas, VA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

Filled out the application online on a Friday and was told to call in to schedule for an interview the same day that I applied. The person on the phone was very friendly and polite, but the lady who I needed to speak to was busy at the time; I think she was with another interviewee at the time. She called me back within a few hours and we scheduled the interview to take place the following Wednesday. I came in for the interview to their main office dressed in business professional attire, but after arriving I think I could have come in just business casual. The lady at the front desk gave me a warm welcome and had me fill out some forms in the lobby while I waited for my turn to be interviewed. The forms asked for pretty much the same information that I filled out online. I was called into the back office to start my interview a little behind schedule because the one before me ended up running over, but the lady interviewing me was very apologetic and in fact had come out to the lobby a few times to apologize for the inconvenience. At the time they were trying to quick find some replacements for employees who had dropped out at the start of the season. The interview went smoothly. The first third of the interview was spent going over some of the information on my application such as my employment history, education history, and how much experience I had using professional photography equipment. The whole thing was very calm and felt like we were just having a conversation. Once we had gone over all of this information, she proceeded to go over work policies and what our schedules would look like. She told me beforehand about some of the things that turns some people off from the job, such as the commute to the shoots and the fact that we often have to work early mornings on the weekends. The last portion of the interview, the lady switched out for the man who manages the photographers. He gave me a quick rundown of the equipment we would be using and showed what it would be like to be at the photo shoots. He also asked about my experience with a camera. They offered for me to start training that next weekend.
