I applied online. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (London, England) in Nov 2021
Interview
A pleasant, informal screening phone call. Then two virtual interviews which felt more like casual chat.
Everyone was incredibly friendly and I had plenty of communication from them to explain the next stage of the process etc.

I was asked about my background and past experience.
I applied online. I interviewed at Octopus Energy (London, England) in Jul 2022
Interview
The interview process was definitely one of the best that I have been through, and made Octopus stand out as somewhere I really wanted to work because they were so good at communicating with me, and because the whole process had a much more natural/human feel to it than other interviews that I have been through.
- Process took a few weeks in total just because of scheduling around Holiday I was taking.
- I was in contact at first with a recruiter from Octopus who had a 30 min call with me to discuss my application and skills and to let me know a bit more about the role.
- This was then followed up by two online interviews with seniors in the team that was hiring, one interview was more informal and discussed my CV and the role, and the second was more formal and competency based.
- I had a final interview in the office (which was more like 3 mini informal interviews) where I was shown around and met with people who I would be working with closely in the role. This included questions very specific to the role, my relevant experience and the approach I would take to these tasks. It was also described as an opportunity to make sure that we all got along and would be able to work well together, which I think is useful.
Throughout the whole process my recruiter from Octopus stayed in touch, following up with me on the same day as my interviews and would respond very quickly to any of my questions. She really made the experience less daunting and easy to navigate. Overall, I found the interview experience at Octopus to be very responsive and friendly, which gave me a really good impression of the company and also I would say reflects how Octopus likes to work more generally which is nice to see.
