I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nuvalence in Apr 2022
Interview
Usual process - phone screen, take home problem, programming, behavioral and system design portions. About 5 hours of calls in total with another several working on the solution.
As so many others have pointed out on here, there was positive feedback throughout the entire process that I seemed like a perfect fit, they were enthusiastic to work with me and thought my solution was good. Then two days after I completed the final interview they decline to move forward because I missed requirements on my programming solution. Despite talking through the one “missed” requirement in my solution and pointing out that I had in fact implemented the desired functionality in a different way.

Question 1
Write a solution that will detect intersection, adjacency and containment of rectangles.
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Nuvalence (Toronto, ON) in Nov 2022
Interview
This is one of the worst companies that I ever interviewed for. Firstly there was a 1 hour call with senior leadership to guage my experience and later there was a take home assessment and this is where things went really bad. The take home assessment was about rectangle overlap and after working on that for a few days I wrote a clean code and submitted. One day later they rejected my assessment and this is when I realized they were never serious about my candidacy and were deliberately wasting candidate's time without stating why the assessment was rejected. When asked for the reason they did not bother to even respond back. I literally wasted 3 - 4 days out of my busy schedule to work on their assessment and they don't even have a ounce of respect to others time. I would recommend for anyone planning to take their take home assessment to take a pass and save their valuable time as these guys are intentionally rejecting candidates. Please save your time and use that to interview elsewhere.

Question 1
Find various rectangle overlaps and determine the type of overlap between them
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nuvalence in Oct 2022
Interview
Approached by a recruiter and had a 1 hour behavioral interview and then given a take-home coding problem. I then had a 1 hour interview about the coding problem and finally a 1 hour design interview. The design interview was with 2 guys and one of the guys was rolling his eyes and looking up as being annoyed when the other guy was speaking. It was the rudest and most disrespectful thing I have ever seen at an interview. The guy doing this was shadowing the other guy to learn to do interviews. It just shows this place has a toxic atmosphere and employees are not treated very well. Hopefully, they recorded this, had someone watch it, and fired this guy. I feel like I dodged a bullet. I would not want to work at a place like this. Which is too bad, because I really enjoyed talking to the other people in the interviews.
