      Concept Engineer Interview

      15 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Solihull, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Norton Motorcycle (Solihull, England) in Dec 2024

      Interview

Applied online and heard nothing for 3 months, then an email out of the blue for an online interview. Link provided by HR didn’t work, but got another sent which did. Interviewing manager didn’t turn up and sent two Junior engineers instead who read through prescribed script. Got to a F2F interview but was asked a lot of questions which were nothing to do with the job I applied for and realised that the manager in question was from a different department and was looking for the person to do extra work in his department due to skills shortage. Left feeling disappointed and somewhat bemused by the bizarreness of it. Heard nothing for 3 weeks then got a “one-time, no negotiation” offer which was poor. I declined as I had a better offer on the table. A week later I got an improved offer and against my better judgement accepted. Was told contract would be sent within 48 hours. I waited a month, emailed and left messages but nothing so after my proposed start date came a went with no response, I took the anlt offer which was thankfully still on the table. After 5 weeks and 48 hours, I got a phone call asking where I was. Probably the most unprofessional experience of my 25+year career.
