The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Fort Worth, TX) in Feb 2024
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and she was very nice, I had a zoom meeting with her and overall the position seemed good. Once I got there in person I realized you don't even get a base salary and you usually don't even get your licenses for a year. They were all very friendly but it was just disappointing to go in for an interview and then be told that you might not get paid for an entire year, how can anyone afford to do that?
After the in person interview they want you to basically make a list of people you would reach out to if you became an advisor and do a "trial run" on people you know, so basically act like you are an advisor for the next "interview" I guess. They want you to think of 200-300 people you could reach out to once you are licensed because they don't pay for lead programs (but I guess harassing your family and asking them to "introduce you" to other people is fine?).
Overall everyone was nice but I just don't see how anyone can not get paid for a year AND feel okay about hitting up all of their family and friends to get them in the door for financial advising. Just be ready if you go in for an interview, you aren't getting a salary, its 100% commission, and that won't even happen until you get all of your investment and advisory licenses.
Very professional and provide a deep background and understanding of the company. The recruiters are very friendly and help guide you through the interview process. Is a multi-step interview process including surveys and questionaries.
I went through three rounds. You have an initial screening, a one hour interview with an advisor, then meet with a partner in-person if possible. Very detailed, and they bring up cultural test results and financial projections.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Who is someone in your current network that could benefit from this?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual
Interview
Fortunately it was a decent introduction call.
Unfortunately the recruiter did not know the mission statement for the organization and did not look it up to share it.
Was also informed there were still to be four interviews in the interview process.
