I interviewed onsite for the Customer Compliance Specialist role at the Chicago location. Upon arrival, I was directed to a meeting room where I met with the hiring manager.
The interview experience was unexpectedly brief. After asking me to introduce myself, the hiring manager did not ask any follow-up questions about my background, experience, or how I handle job-related scenarios. Within about five minutes, I was asked if I had any questions for her, which was surprising given the lack of discussion up to that point.
The entire interview lasted approximately 15 minutes, and there was minimal effort to explore my qualifications or assess my fit for the role. It felt as though a decision may have already been largely formed prior to the onsite interview, which made the process seem less meaningful from a candidate perspective. If that was the case, it would have been more respectful to candidates’ time and effort to reconsider bringing individuals onsite, as I had taken PTO and invested time preparing for the interview. It felt unfair given the time and effort involved in attending the onsite.
After about two weeks, I was informed that they had decided to move forward with another candidate.
While I understand that not all candidates will be selected, I was disappointed by the limited engagement during the interview. A more structured and thorough interview process would provide candidates with a fair opportunity to present their experience and better reflect the company’s professionalism.
