I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2011
Interview
3 interviews in total. The first one with a recruiting manager. He explained that it was a sales positions . The second interview was with the managing partner. He explained I detail that it was a commission based position and set all the expectations and requirements ( training 3 times a week and phone clinic on Mondays from 6-9 pm) all the perks of the contract and the third interview I had to come up with people that I called to inform them of the possibility of working for NYL and that I would need their support . Then after the background check I was offered the position.
The interview was fairly easy. There was a 2 interview process that mostly explained pay structure and an overview of the company. The first interview consisted of getting to know you... your goals, skills, and overall character. The second was more of the same but also including a detailed explanation of the different contracts offered and which ones applies to you.

Question 1
Tell us about a time you had to overcome a difficult situation.
Roughly 6 interviews. Review compensation and goals and objectives. They didn't ask me that many questions. They are trying to recruit you. That is how they makeoney. Show that you are a self starter and you should be good.
More of a sales pitch than an interview. Interview took place with on of their Partners at the local office. Office is nice and the people are friendly. Sit with the Partner and discuss career goals and how much money you want to make.
