I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY) in Nov 2013
Interview
Phone interview mid-October. About 30min long, mostly questions about resume. The interviewer also gave some more detailed information about the internship program.
Then about 2 weeks later, I was invited to an on-site interview. I met with 5 actuaries, each for 30 minutes and then went out for lunch with two actuarial students. Still, mostly behavioral questions, and to learn about my past research/work experience. Each interviewer also gave me some time to ask them questions at the end of the 30min period.

Question 1
Describe an occasion that you had to persuade a group of people to do things a certain way.
Approximately 30 minute phone interview. We both gave each other a brief introduction and he proceeded to ask mostly behavioral questions. Very few company specific questions like why New York Life.

Question 1
Why New York Life? Describe a time when you faced a challenge and how you overcame it.
My interviewers were rude and unprofessional during the entire interview. Even worse, they ask the same type of questions in every single session. The whole process was a waste of time. Would not recommend doing an internship with them since the culture seems so bad.
Great! It took 3 weeks for them to reject me. It was a 2.5hrs interview with 6 people from different teams. Make sure to review some basic insurance concepts because they will ask you during the interview.
