Invited to schedule a first interview and I selected an available time. I re-read the instructions and realized that I had not selected an option within the approved timeframe. (Not sure why times outside the approved timeframe would even be options.) I reselected a time for the next week. The day of the original time I selected, I received an email saying they appreciated our conversation but another candidate had been selected. Since they hadn't ACTUALLY talked to me yet, I sent an email asking if this was a mistake. It was a mistake. But when the actual interview occurred, the interviewer was brusque and unfriendly. She didn't make eye contact and didn't seem to pay attention to my answers. I was asked questions about travel, availability, and location which were all acceptable to me. I was rejected for further consideration with the exact text I had previously received. I was a good fit for the role and able to meet all the requirements, so I'm not sure why I was rejected. The whole experience was unprofessional and opaque. The interviewer looked like she didn't want to be there. An unpleasant experience all around.
