The process was great.
I applied at the beginning of Aug. 2018 and honestly didn’t think anything else about it because I didn’t hear anything for 5 weeks.
When I got an email about a phone screen I was shocked and really had to reset my thinking because I’d forgotten that I had applied.
The email came on a Monday night. I replied and had a screen with someone the very next day.
The phone screen was great. I wasn’t being interviewed, but I was being invited. That felt great and I was quickly warming up to the company. I never was really even asked about my experience. The recruiter just told me all the great stuff about working for netapp and then asked if I had questions.
She said she’d pass me on the hiring manager and a peer who worked out of California.
Those went well. The HM was intimidating. Not because she was threatening but because she was so incredible and accomplished. I really felt like she was someone I wanted to work for.
The peer screen was hard to read but I figured it wasn’t terrible.
Finally I heard back and was invited to come onsite. Had a round of 4 interviews with some HRBPs and directors which were standard. Typical behavioral and circumstantial questions. I felt good about those except for one. This one was onsite but it was over the phone with a director. I just thought he hated me for some reason.
After some time, I didn’t get the job but I really enjoyed the process and the people I met!
