I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Nerdio
Interview
Phone screen interview was normal, moved onto video interview with the hiring team. This was a pretty easy/cake position, so I was very comfortable and totally expected to be one of their favorites. The hiring team was flexible regarding scheduling, however there were some giant red flags during the first (and only) interview. First, the team member doing the general/technical questioning didn't use video! I was a little surprised by this, but the hiring manager didn't seem to care? Super weird. I had onboarded 200-300 new employees in my previous role, not having video turned on during that was never an option for me. I can't imagine formally questioning potential new hires without being seen themselves?
Second, there were technical questions that weren't outlined in the job description.
Finally, the hiring manager brought up "being empathetic" multiple times during the interview... how if you weren't an empathetic person, you weren't going to proceed with them or be on their team. OK, totally fine, I'm very empathetic, I am always thinking about other people and how I can do things to improve their day or roles in general.
Despite multiple follow ups over the course of TWO MONTHS, the hiring team didn't have "empathy" towards me. I was ignored and ghosted by the entire team. After several follow ups, I finally received a generic letdown email from the HR person, even though it should have been sent several weeks earlier.
