When setting up the interview the email said “find me on LinkedIn” with a link. Profile seemed cool and funny, and I messaged them commenting on it, but didn’t respond or accept my invite. We spoke at the agreed upon time and it was pretty terrible, didn’t ask much about me and told me couldn’t tell me much about the position, but that the next person could. Even if it was hourly or salary. (The yearly amount was listed on an old listing, which was pretty low for all of the experience that was required.) Person had no personality or enthusiasm. I thought maybe they were having a bad day or something.
So then I met with next person who seemed ok, but unprofessional. She spoke without a headset and I kept seeing the arm of someone flailing around next to them at home- spouse or kid I guess- and kept hearing banging which was distracting. I asked if the pay was hourly or salary and they didn’t know either. I had mentioned there were multiple massive layoffs at current company and they said “I see how that could give you a bad attitude “. That was really weird as I was being positive about the whole thing and was actually excited about the prospect of changing the type of industry I would be working for.
Right after that, an actual job posting went up for the position, and the only change to it was that they wanted someone in Mountain time zone. I am not in that time zone, but they did not mention that to me and we did not discuss hours. For the record, I could have worked whatever hours they wanted me to- I have no preference. After the job listing went up I knew that I had no chance. A couple weeks after that original person accepted my LinkedIn invite. 🙄 I never heard a word back. So all in all, bad experience and highly unprofessional.
