      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Navan

      Interview

It consisted of 5 rounds: 1. Recruiter screening 2. Low level design round. 3. Technical round (DSA + Your resume/experience) 4. System design round. 5. Culture fit interview The process was elegantly designed. Interviewers were very professional and respectful. Each round felt like a challenge. The best part was that during the entire process, I felt being a colleague to them, instead of an interviewee.

      Senior Backend Engineer Interview

      24 Mar 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Navan (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

A third party recruiter contacted me for this position. I was not really sure about the company considering how fragile the business due to COVID and might never go back to its hay days. But I still believed they had a good engineering culture, so decided to give it a shot. I had another call with the trip action recruiter and they decided move forward with technical phones screen. They on the day of technical screen interview nobody showed up. I emailed the recruiter immediately and they said they will get back once they figure what happened. No response for another 2 days. Then the third party recruiter calls me asking me on how the interview was. I told them what happened and then she followed up with the TripActions recruiter and they decided try the interview again. I agreed and set the interview the same week. The interview went pretty well and I was 90% sure I will be asked for on-site. Now, I did not hear from them for a week and after a week, I sent an email to the TripActions recruiter if they had any feedback. The recruiter immediately responds saying that the feedback is positive and connected me with another peer of his. Now here is where the fun begins. I got an email the next day asking me to select the time for the on-site interview. I do so and third party recruiter as well called me and said they are excited for the on-site. Now out of the blue, the next day I get a standard rejections email saying my profile didn’t match. Seriously ? After all this ? Guess somebody messed up. Too many red flags from the recruiters side. I’m happy that I didn’t have to go through more steps and they pull this fast one on me. They just lost one well wisher of the company with such callous attitude.
