I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at National Instruments (Austin, TX) in Sept 2012
Interview
I applied about 2 months ago. I received an initial interview invitation from an actual technical writer at the company (not a recruiter). I was then given a timed technical editing test. The test was not difficult if you are familiar with editing. I ran out of time and still had a 2 whole pages to review. I just received an automated message today telling me I was not selected. I wasn't surprised. NI isn't necessarily my top choice anyways and I am interviewing with several other companies who are likely to be a better fit. You will also be asked about your salary expectations, so be ready for that. I heard NI had a good environment, but pays much less than industry standard. I may have took myself out of the running when I gave my salary expectations. If you actually care about your salary, NI probably isn't the best place for you either.
