The process started out great with a call from HR asking about my background and seeing if I was a good fit. Then I moved on to the first in person interview. The first interview was with 2 people from the department. 1 person I interviewed with exemplified a concerning lack of professionalism during their hiring process. In my first interview, one department member refused to talk to me directly and came off combative. I tried to follow up and keep the conversation going but they didn't seem interested. The other interviewer asked great questions and it felt like we were the only ones making an effort to continue the interview professionally. This left me feeling inadequate and uncomfortable. I did not expect them to call me back for a second interview. The second interview went well and I was told that my background matched the criteria of the job, I was told about benefits and supplied them with a reference from a project manger on a current project I was working on. They contacted them, I also provided work samples to support my background. I sent thank you emails and 4/6 went unanswered. I was asked to fill out a reference release form after they already reached out to 2 of my references. After investing significant time and effort in three rounds of interviews, including two in person meetings, I had to follow up every week for 6 weeks with the recruiter and was told there were delays because people were on vacation. I was told that while I was qualified for the position they were no longer hiring for the role and holding off on any action right now on making any further progress. The same job was then reposted.
