I applied in-person. I interviewed at Montclair State University (Montclair, NJ) in May 2016
Interview
Two skype interviews, one with the history side of the department and another with the theory side. The general emphasis was on teaching experience, grading policy, approach to the class, etc. I would also point out that the department controls how many sections each adjunct gets so as to maintain their ineligibility for health insurance.
The interview process was very seamless and organized with their team. The team were very approachable and had a friendly environment. I love the values of Montclair State University and a former alumni of the university.
The first part of interview was questions about my background, philosophy, and teaching style. Second part was two teaching demonstrations in front of the interview panel. The final part was a discussion on what I did and why.
