      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Monica Vinader

      Interview

This was a three step process beginning with the HR screening. The HR person was professional and invited me to the first online interview. The first interviewer was ok and the questions were dynamic and role related. However, they did make some direct age discriminating comments about me, wrongly misinterpreting me as a student as well as other comments. Their errors by the way, highlighting that they had neglected to read my CV properly which would have indicated years of work experience. A red flag that this interview was probably to tick some boxes and wasn't going to be a legitimate interview based on my professional credentials. This was extremely unprofessional and could make any candidate feel inexperienced. After answering all the questions successfully such as KPI questions and management tactics, i was invited to the second interview. My experience with the second step was odd. The second interviewer seemed unnatural. They were looking for reasons why I wouldn’t be successful rather than good qualities. For example, having answered similar questions about KPI's successfully in the first interview, then again in the first half of the second interview without any issue, this person persisted to ask me the same kind of question again in a different manner. When the exact answer was not repeated they directly replied 'No, i was looking for...' (whilst shaking their head) and making notes. They hadn't written any notes about previously correct answers on KPI'S by the way. There was definitely an element of trying to catch a person out. Regardless of all the positive attributes answered about leadership tactics etc. A few days later, feedback from HR was emailed. The feedback indicated that the interviewer neglected all the positive things mentioned in the interview which aligned to this role and determined the interview as 'negative' in their words. This appeared completely different from the reality of the interview and felt like a form of gaslighting. I had a gut-feeling about the interview process being prejudice from the first interview. I was very close to cancelling the second interview for this reason as instinct told me this was not a fair process. They had clearly made their minds up about me but needed to complete the interview process so appeared to distort reality in a bid to draw my interview process to an end. As an admirer of the brand with years of experience in the role, this interview process certainly tainted my experience of the brand. A true demonstration of toxicity narrowly avoided.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Monica Vinader (Kings Cross, England)

      Interview

You apply online, then have a telephone interview, and if successful followed on by a face to face interview in their head office in kings cross Overall a poor process, I feel like they have a tick box of what they are physically looking for
