G Modiano Ltd welcomes applications irrespective of gender, colour, nationality, orientation, religion or age.
Out of a world-wide staff of about 350 just four are from the Modiano family and the majority of Directors and Senior Managers are not members of the Modiano family.
We have a very capable and experienced workforce and we value their commitment to our company. We are proud of the fact that many employees have stayed with us for a long time. Of course that does impact on our age and service profile; nevertheless some 15% of our UK staff are under thirty.
Like many family businesses we do pay particular attention to whether a candidate’s personality will fit into our culture. We know that many young people prefer the cut and thrust of a corporate environment so we accept that this environment is not for everyone.
As it happens, in this instance, only one of our interviewers was over fifty years old.
We were surprised to find these comments on Glassdoor as this candidate had previously said “I’m sure in my mind that the wool trader position at Modiano is exactly the sort of position that I am hoping to pursue and commit fully to”. Even after we had sent our letter of rejection he replied “If there will be any reconsideration in your decision in the future I will gladly be available as I find myself a perfect candidate for the wool trader position in your company”.
