It was a phone interview- very simple and easy. Questions were based on your own interests and not experirence or situational. Only one round of interviews before offer. Recommend interviewing here
I applied online. I interviewed at Melville House Publishing (New York, NY) in May 2021
Interview
Pretty straight-forward hour-long interview with the two co-publishers. They kind of played good cop/bad cop, with one of them asking most of the questions and answering my questions, and the other one dodging responding. The job listing did not include pay so I asked for a range, as well as about benefits and their staff review process. I did not get an answer but was told I would get days off and an entry-level salary, although that amount wasn't specified. They did not seem to be aware of their bad Glassdoor reviews and said they had not experienced bad turnover. Standard interview questions with about 20 minutes for me to ask questions, although I didn't really get a good response to any of the ones I asked. Overall, I'd say they want someone who can work hard as a publicist, is okay with a low salary, and does not have aspirations of more responsibility/pay.
