I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Meltwater (Toronto, ON) in Mar 2022
Interview
I have to say the entire process was just terrible, awful, and unorganized. Meltwater seems to be very cult-like.
The initial screening interview is acceptable. I spoke with a nice person, and they made me feel like I was a genuine candidate. That is where the positivity ends.
The next level is the group interview. This is THE most awful experience I have ever had in an interview process. It is 2 hours long. The first hour is a gruelling uninteresting presentation about the company (given by an absolutely obnoxious and toxic girl that kept bringing up how crucial their cult-like culture is). It literally ONLY covers the stuff all candidates should already know. It's very basic and pointless, and everyone just sits there and nods their head on the zoom call pretending to care. The second hour consists of an intro about yourself; then, you give a minute speech about something you're interested in, aka "The Passion Speech." For the entire 2 hours, I had 2 minutes to speak. I had no way to demonstrate value, no way to stand out. They were looking for a very very specific type of person. The type of salesperson nobody likes in the industry, and I could tell this based on the speeches they seemed to enjoy.
The other candidates attempted to stand out by asking incredibly pointless and unintelligent questions just to hear themselves speak. I knew I had to steer clear by the end of the group interview. The hosts try a lot of scare tactics, and I kid you not, one of the kids fainted live on the call. They had to stop the whole zoom for 5 minutes to check if the kid was alright. That just goes to show how awful this process is. And for what? There are plenty of better positions.
My advice...avoid Meltwater.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
HR Call: The basic behavioural questions. Keep in mind, that they want brainwashed students and they plan on keeping you there for a long time. They basically check if you plan on staying there for a while and in sales.
Group Interview: 1-minute into, a 1-minute passion speech about something you want to sell them or are interested in.
made it past the screening, learned from hiring manager they expect 150 dials per day, which is insane. you are a full cycle rep, how are you supposed to run any demos and close any deals if you are dialling 150 times per day. Not to mention the base pay is trash. what a joke.

Interview
Very kind and supportive team! However, I felt that the interviewer was not quite engaged from the beginning. Overall, great experience and enjoyed the process. The interview left me feeling excited about the opportunity and what it would be like to work at the company!

Interview
HR Screen: 30 minutes
Panel Interview: 60 minutes
Friendly team. Mock sales interview for the panel. Clear about expectations (need to hustle in this role, not a chill 9-5). Asked a mix of behavioural questions and motivation questions.
