I was contacted through email via a job-posting site (Indeed.com) for a 3rd shift operator position. The recruiter was internal, friendly but not very personable. Interviews lasted from 8:00am til about 10:00am. Several managers from different (but related) departments interviewed me. None of them seemed particularly interested in their work lives; no enthusiasm whatsoever. I would describe their attitudes as dry, boring, disinteresting. Generic interview / resume questions.
The operator role PRIMARILY consists of monitoring 5 or so screens with issues that come up from the mainframe and in-house servers (e.g. Sit on your butt most of your shift). One must follow "proper elevation processes" when issues arise. Think hepldesk, but on a different level, and not dealing with as many uneducated people.
