      Management Trainee Interview

      6 Nov 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Atlanta, GA) in Oct 2013

      Interview

I applied through my school's career center. A few weeks later, I had a 30 minute campus interview with a really nice interviewer. The interview was 100% behavioral and learning about the company and program. They said they were planning to hire 20-30 people. Then, a couple of days later, I was invited to an office interview to be held about 2 weeks later. The trip to the office was very nice and everything went smoothly. The day of the interview consisted of a tour of the warehouse with a current trainee, while he asked a lot of questions about what I thought was going on, and then three more interviews with former trainees from different departments, lunch with two former trainees, another interview, and then an interview with a recruiter. A lot of people seemed to be former TFA. The interviews seemed to be all behavioral, but they mostly wanted to hear about my management experience and how I would motivate people. I'm not really sure what they are looking for, but several wanted to know about my observations from the factory. As others have mentioned, no idea what they really want to hear there. Overall, the questions were all easy, but obviously I didn't say what they wanted to hear. There weren't any case questions, except in the tour. It was truly a long day, starting at 8am, and I didn't stop talking until 2pm. Finally, they said they would get back to me within a week. I didn't hear back after two weeks, but then I finally got a letter in the mail (!) dated 3 days after my interview saying I didn't get it.

      Interview

The interview process was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. I really appreciated that the discussions were fully behavioral, allowing me to naturally draw on my past experiences. Furthermore, the company truly goes out of its way to treat you like a VIP throughout the entire visit, covering a remarkably nice hotel stay and providing a generous stipend to ensure you are completely comfortable.

One behavioral interview with a recruiter and then a day-long onsite interview at the Elmhurst IL location. Superday has two behavioral interviews, walkarounds and more but feels like you're being observed everyday.
