The initial interview took place in late November and was a 30-minute phone screening with a recruiter, and then later followed by two Skype interviews. I was told by the person who works in the department the position is in that he was going to recommend me. In early December, I was told by the recruiter that they should have a decision within a week. No word again until early January; the recruiter said again they would have a decision in about a week, and that I was one of the top runners. A couple of weeks after that, I get another email saying that they're still waiting on a decision from a hiring manager. I follow up again in mid-February, and receive no response. I follow up a final time in March with the recruiting coordinator, who said the recruiter I was working with no longer works for the company, and the position was no longer available. This company strung me along for months, reassured me that I was a top contender, and wouldn't even send me a message to say that the position was no longer available / filled until I managed to find the contact info of the recruiting coordinator myself.
