I must have seen a flashy ad that looked appealing. I don't even think I sent in a resume I think I just called them or sent an email for more information. They called and wanted to do an "interview" so I made an appointment and went in. The people in the office should have been a huge red flag. None of them looked like "business professionals" and it didn't seem like a working environment with their annoying, far too loud techno music playing in the lobby. I still took the interview and it was very weird. He talked a lot about all these big name clients but then said that they focus a lot on the automotive side of marketing because they are all huge "automotive buffs". It really didn't feel much like an interview he just talked a lot and asked me if I thought I could talk to people and what my favorite quote was to stand out to their recruiters..... I got a call back for a second interview a day later then they originally told me. The girl over the phone was laughing about being dyslexic and that she must have dialed my number wrong yesterday. Still wondering how I had even "qualified", I went to the second interview and was greeted by the same loud annoying music and sketchy NOT business professional people. Then came time for my background check. I started filling out the information and unlike many of their other applicants I actually READ what I was agreeing to. Sorry, but I don't authorize people to run my credit when I don't even know how much they are willing to pay me or if I am even going to get an offer at all. I'm sure I would have gotten the offer if I would have stuck through their process. It seriously looked like anyone with a heartbeat was getting accepted.
Anyways, I told the nice girl at the desk I wasn't comfortable with it and she told me "Oh, that's just a general form the company we do our background checks through uses, we wont run your credit" I explained to her that I trust her but that I wasn't willing to sign a form that says you can run my credit that has my social, drivers license number and birthday on. It just didn't make sense. She acted a little put out by my intelligence and got who I guess was the "boss". When I told him my concerns he said the same things she said. I said I just wasn't comfortable with that and asked if they had an alternative form I could sign to authorize a background check. He again told me they wouldn't check my credit and I told him the form I was signing said they could. Also seeming a bit turned off by my intelligence he stuck his hand in my face (to shake it) and said "Ok then, good luck with everything!" So I said "Ok, thanks!" And walked out!
