Unfortunately, this is my first time leaving a review on Glassdoor, and it is not a positive one. In March, Manychat posted two senior engineering manager positions in Amsterdam with the same requirements. One was for Billing & Business, and the other was for Growth. I applied for both, was selected for the Billing & Business role, and was invited to an initial online interview with a recruiter.
The interview went well. The recruiter was friendly and positive. Later that same evening, I received feedback stating that they wanted to invite me to an interview with the hiring manager to dive deeper into my experience. We agreed on a date and time. On the day the interview was scheduled to take place, I received a cancellation email from the same recruiter I had been speaking with initially. Her email was very lengthy and full of apologies, explaining that the hiring manager (an engineering director) had work-related emergencies. They asked if I was still willing to continue and reschedule.
To which I responded immediately and provided alternative time slots for the following week, as they had requested. I have not heard anything from Manychat since then. Three weeks have passed, and the roles have been removed from their website. Perhaps they were filled, frozen, or they are no longer hiring? Regardless, I received no follow-up whatsoever.
I am astonished by how disrespectfully they treat their candidates. This is especially disappointing as I have read other reviews from people who applied for engineering manager positions and were also ghosted after agreeing to a subsequent round.
There is no need to send lengthy apologies via email. It is simply a matter of basic decency and professionalism to follow through and inform candidates when circumstances have changed.
