I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Magic Ears (Beijing, Beijing) in Jan 2018
Interview
The interview process you go to magic ears website. Then you fill out the application and upload your resume. You need to record an introduction video of yourself as part of the resume. This should include who you are, any teaching experience you have (especially if it is online), your educational background, and what you LOVE about teaching. Try to make it fun and make yourself be unique. Then if you are selected based on application and intro video you will schedule an interview. You are able to schedule your own interview on the website. The interview is with a Magic Ears Senior Teacher. Part of the interview includes a trial teaching in which you pretend that the interviewer is a second language child. You are required to prepare at least 2 teaching aids. After this it takes up to 2 days to find out if you are able to go on to the next phase. In this phase the company provides training. They want you to be successful and will help you to do that. You get to schedule your training yourself based on your availability as well as teacher availability. There is a 1V4 training which is 1 trainer and 4 applicants. After this you will complete a 1V1 training with 1 trainer and 1 applicant. The trainer walks you through a lesson and helps you to feel comfortable. They give you tips to help you be successful in Magic Ears. After this you will get to do a trial teaching to real students. Based on the parent reviews you either get the opportunity to reteach another trial class, you are offered a contract, or you are informed to reapply at another time.
The interview process entailed of a short demo video, and two online interviews in which it was necessary to pretend to teach with the given materials. They suggest that you create some props and be as enthusiastic and fun as possible to align with the company values.
The interview went very well and my mock class but they never got back to me. They said they would reply in 2 or 3 days. Never contacted me again. Unreliable company.
The interviewer was a pleasure, extremely friendly, and informative. Beginning with a few mandatory questions we then began the interview process which was, too, rather pleasant. All material was available prior to the interview, allowing for pre-reading and preparation. Expectations were clerly outlined. All-in-all, enjoyable.
