I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (Lexington, MA)
Interview
I love glassdoor and appreciate the resource, anyways, I promised myself to contribute if ever I had the chance :
I was encouraged to apply to Lincoln labs by a colleague and staff employee. I did so and two weeks later an interview was scheduled. One week after scheduling the interview I came in, discussed the responsibilities of MITLL staff and presented my research topics. Everyone asked very perceptive and good questions when I discussed my work, and seemed to be very engaged. I think each group leans on your resume as a filter, and really tries to make a determination on your ability to fit in with the group and contribute. It took 4 weeks to receive an offer, and I immediately accepted. It took an additional 4 weeks to process my background check. The entire process took a little over two months, which is a little vexing/nerve wrecking. Hopefully if you've applied and are waiting on some stage of the hiring process, this is helpful and lets you know it takes some time! HR is extremely helpful though and responsive to inquiries.
The entire process had two rounds. The first was a half-hour call with a group leader, where they went over the expectations of the role, along with a check to see if you know your resume. The second was a multi-hour interview with multiple rounds of technical staff members and an hour long presentation for something you worked on.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (Lexington, MA) in Apr 2021
Interview
LONG hiring process.
- (1 month after applying) 1 hour phone interview with group leaders discussing the company and the role.
- (2 weeks later) One-on-one interviews (30 min each) totaling 4-5 hours with group members to discuss projects and trying to find fit followed by a presentation on my previous research.
Ghosted for months on end despite reaching out to the administrator multiple times. Application was declined after months.
ADVICE TO MANAGEMENT: Seriously expedite the hiring process as there are not many people willing to wait months on end (sometime without salary) on a decision only to be ghosted months later.
The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (New York, NY)
Interview
Initial phone screen to review resume. Know your resume well. Then 5 hour Zoom interview. After that, I was completely ghosted. They expressed how much they were interested in me and said they'd get back soon, 2 months later my application now says denied and haven't heard from anyone since the interview.
