I applied online. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics
Interview
Technical interview mainly focused on concepts about strain stress, heat transfer, and manufacturing. They did not really ask many behavioral questions and did not focus on your background too much .
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Stress strain, heat transfer, manufacturing, some resume
Easy interview, typical behavioral + technical questions they asked about the design process of a shelf and the failure points of the design. They asked about the mechanical design process stages.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics in Sept 2025
Interview
The interview was a one-hour technical interview with a mechanical engineer at Lutron. It was conversational but focused mostly on problem-solving and mechanical fundamentals. The interviewer started with a few behavioral questions about teamwork, leadership, and learning experiences, and then moved into technical problems related to mechanical design and materials.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One of the technical questions was to model a metal contact (like a switch contact) as a cantilever beam and explain how changing its length or thickness would affect the contact force. I had to walk through the reasoning, including how force relates to deflection and why stiffness changes with geometry.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics in Oct 2024
Interview
Very technical. I was asked to describe the stress-strain curve in detail, the modes of heat transfer, manufacturing principles (related to casting, 3D printing, and injection molding), and how to manufacture a pen.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
-Draw the stress vs strain curve.
-Explain the mechanism of how a pen pushes in and out.
