I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Loka (Portugal) in Oct 2025
Interview
The recruiter was straightforward and asked whether I had all the experience listed in my CV. She inquired about salary expectations but refused to mention the role's salary range. Although she didn't say anything explicitly, based on her reaction, my request seemed too high for the role. Anyway, they sent me a technical assessment to complete within five business days, which took me a weekend to finish. The technical interview went well, and the interviewer was kind and thoroughly answered my questions. However, two days later, I received a cold email with negative feedback, with NO details about why they decided not to move forward. Considering they require candidates to put considerable effort into a technical assessment, asking for a more personal email with actionable feedback seems fair. However, this is not what happened in my case.

Question 1
Asked to complete a technical assessment that consisted of training a classification model for predicting a disease, a regression model for predicting a blood indicator, and creating a chatbot capable of querying structured and unstructured data while using the ML models as tools.

Interview
Sólo tuve la primera entrevista con HR, y me enviaron un mail para decirme que avanzarían con otro perfil para el puesto. No tengo mucho más que decir, pero al menos fueron educados y me avisaron.

Question 1
Fueron preguntas bastante estándar, para saber mi experiencia previa y si encajaba con los requerimientos del puesto.

Interview
The initial interview was great, then there was a technical assessment that was pretty much an entire project, way too big for that instance. I was able to do it and I had a second interview with a technical manager which also went pretty ok, we went through the solution and he seemed to like it and gave me good feedback. In a third interview, a manager who didn't seem very technical told me that I lacked experience in some platforms, which everyone could have seen by looking at the CV in the first place, and weren't going to offer me the position. Very weird process to be honest, but the project was interesting, although way oversized.
Hey there, thanks for leaving a thoughtful review. It's true that the technical assessment is complex, but that's because it's highly relevant to the daily functions of the prospective role. Gauging candidate knowledge is crucial for the Data and ML teams to create appropriate offers and devise career plans that align with our career progression framework. It's not uncommon for candidates to perform well in initial interview phases but not end up getting an offer.
We wish you the best of luck in your career search.
