      Software Engineer Interview

      7 Jul 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at LogicGate in May 2020

      Interview

Hiring was done all over Zoom due to pandemic closures. First there was a 45 min. interview with the director of engineering going over your background and answering some technical questions around databases and Java data structures. Next, you have 7 days to complete the take home coding challenge which is not timed. You can pull the Gradle project from Gitlab and quickly set it up in Intellij. The problem to solve is similar to the load balancing problem but given to you as how to efficiently distribute animals into barns. There are unit tests that you must get to pass and you are welcomed to write more. Overall not too difficult if you are familiar with modern Java 8 streams and how to write efficient code. Next, you have a 45 min interview with two engineers to go over your solution and explain your though process. Lastly, there is a 2 hour team interview where you meet with potential team members including product manager. There is no pair programming but you will be asked technical questions around the software development process and best practices. You should be prepared to leave a good impression by asking questions and communicating well with your potential dev manager and director of engineering.

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how candidate experience was! I'm happy to see that you had a very representative engineering recruiting experience which has led you to become a member of our team!

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at LogicGate (Denver, CO) in Mar 2025

      Interview

Had 3 interviews, where the first two interviews were the exact same with the same person. Mostly behavioral type questions, interviewer didn't see to notice that he asked me all the same things a week ago. Had a slightly more technical interview after this where the interviewer seemed optimistic about there being another interview. Never heard back, even after emailing the recruiter. This was a substantial waste of time to not hear anything back for

      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LogicGate in Apr 2021

      Interview

It was honestly such a great interview process. It starts with a preliminary screening with a hiring manager. Then it moves on to a phone call with one of the engineering managers. Both calls are for the team to learn more about you and your background. If you make it passed the second call, they provide you with a code challenge. The code challenge consisted of one problem that mimics what you'd see on the job and then the second part was to design a profile page using information they provided. The second prompt was really to see my HTML and CSS skills. After turning in the code challenge, there is a final round of interviews with different members of the engineering team. In the final round of interviews we reviewed the key pillars of LogicGate's mission and they asked behavioral questions. Then at the end there was a technical that wasn't white boarding or anything, just reviewing the code challenge and asking about how I would handle certain issues. Throughout the whole process, everyone was kind and really made the environment comfortable. They truly care about finding quality employees and they don't buy into the idea of weeding out candidates through ridiculously challenging LeetCode problems that are timed. They only ask questions that are important for them to understand the type of learner you are and if you'll fit in to the team. It was a refreshing change to the horrible interviewing experiences I had prior. They always ask for feedback too and they continue to update and improve. The interview process also really helped me to see the type of people I would be working with and how much they care about their employees. I was truly surprised and fortunate that the interview process was so well done and the people involved were all so amazing.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at LogicGate (Chicago, IL) in May 2020

      Interview

I set up a call with the interviewer and she told me she would call at a given date and time. I never received her call so I proceeded to email her in order to find out what happened or if we could reschedule the interview. She responded mockingly that she called me 3 times. Thanks. A day later I received an email saying that I was not chosen for the position. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have had with a company. I hope they hire better staff. I believe I dodged a bullet either way.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None, since I was not even given a chance to take the interview.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a less than exceptional experience during your interview process with LogicGate. We try our best to respect the time and energy that all of our candidates put into the interview process with us and it looks like we missed the mark. If you'd like to provide more specific feedback please reach out to me via email at samantha.strube@logicgate.com.
