      Software Engineer Interview

      16 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at LiveRamp (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

      I applied Software Developer position at LiveRamp through University website and got the OA very soon. After around two weeks I was scheduled a phone interview. The questions asked were basically about your resume, especially your projects followed by typical BFS/DFS questions on IMDB database like other posts. (The point is that you have to explain your algorithm in very detail and make sure your interviewer understand what you are talking about step by step. You should also be very clear about the time and space complexity of your algorithm not just the time and space complexity of BFS/DFS.) After another couple of weeks, I got onsite invitation. LiveRamp is located in the centre of SF and they will give you the address and instructions so don't worry about that. There were supposed to be four rounds but I just passed the first two. Yes, that's right, in the middle of the interview I was asked to stop moving forward which is very unusual. The only reason I can think is that maybe I gave the answers to the technical questions in a short time so they may think I had well prepared for the questions. However, the questions were actually normal interview questions if you are hunting a job you should know those algorithms and data structures very well and give the answers quickly. Anyway, I have never met this situation before. They just simply cut it off and no detailed feedback which is very rude. There is not further rejection email or feedback, just nothing. I think all the negative posts on Glassdoor about LiveRamp happened for a reason. The whole process just wasted too much of my time. It does not seem like that I will interview with LiveRamp again. The reasons are: First, HR seems like be on vacation all the time. You may get the result very quickly but the time taken to get to the next step is way too long. Second, no feedback all the time and show little respect to the candidate. It makes me confused so much and I am even wondering are they really hiring people now. They said they do but based on all the negative posts and my own experience you can tell what is the truth. They told me that "we have a very high bar." I think maybe I do not reach the level as they desire but at least show me your respect. :) BTW, if you are in Bay Area, you have to get to their office yourself and no reimbursement. :) Lastly, my recommendation is do not bother yourself to interview with LiveRamp except you are an expert as they desire who can pass through their extremely high bar. If you are interviewing with LiverRamp, just relax. If it works out, congratulations; if not, don't take the result too seriously to affect your mood for job hunting. Good luck for your job hunting!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      OA: The same as previous posts. Phone interview: 1) Questions related to your resume. 2) BFS/DFS questions based on IMDB. Onsite: 1) Give you a set of numbers, generate all possible subsets. 2) Give you a list of words, group all words that have the same pattern. Example: Input: {"mom", "eat", "ate","dad", "go" } Output: {"mom", "dad"}, {"eat", "ate"}, {"go"}
