Telephone interview with a recruiter. The recruiter was pleasant and professional on the phone although not much personality and a bit robotic. It was hard to gauge how I was doing during the interview as she didn't make any sound at all (probably had the phone on mute). When I answered a direct question she would have a follow up "ya but" example: "tell me about your financial management background" .. 'give my answer' .. "ya but, this position requires that you be a supervisor" .. "okay, let me tell you my supervisor experience .. " ya but, you also have to do .." etc etc ... Now that I think about it, it was as if the recruiter didn't really want to recognize the skills I had for the position. Finally we spoke in French as the position requires the language which seemed to go fine. The recruiter informed that there will also be a writing test to make sure there were no issues there. After submitting my writing test answers I received an email from the recruiter explaining that although my written sample was good I was going to be passed over at that time because she thought I made some mistakes in French during the phone interview. This was frustrating to have seemingly 'passed' the first round of interview to the writing test stage only to find out that it wasn't the case. Why send a written test if she felt the spoken portion was not good enough? Just a bit of a waste of time, and a bit weird.
