I sent my resume and cover letter through their ATS system. I want to say four days later I received a call from someone in the office who did not say who she was. She asked if I would be free on Saturday for a fifteen minute phone conversation. She said that she was unsure who would call me, but I would receive an e-mail confirmation. I never did.
Saturday comes and a person from the company calls me, later to find out she is an assistant, and asks me very general questions on my background. I was given no indication of what this company does, why this job is open, and was not given any chance to ask any questions. As someone who has been in HR for years, this is bad practice. She did say that I would receive an e-mail with some psychometric tests. The tests consisted of grammar and math, which I thought was ridiculous. There was also a personality test, too.
A few days later, I received a call inviting me in for a face-to-face interview. I arrived earlier. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. I was kept waiting for about forty-five minutes. I was actually glad I was kept waiting because there was a patient receiving some sort instructions in the front. I discovered that this is a company that practices medicine and health I find very questionable. At any rate, I was finally interviewed, I was asked only one question. I was told that there has been no HR presence in the entire existence of the company, this was scary. I was supposed to meet with another person, but she did not have the time to meet with me, and made it very clear. I received no business cards for follow-up, it was a very strange and confusing interview. I was not selected, and I am grateful I was not.
