Sorry to hear the interview didn’t feel great for you. Thankfully, the purpose of the interview is just as much for you to get a feel for Lev, as it is for Lev to get a feel for you.
I do all the screenings for senior product roles because the role reports directly to me and I care a lot about who joins the team. You mentioned it was a red flag that the CEO did the interview. Are you suggesting that my time is more valuable than others? I don’t see it that way. Hiring great people is probably the most important thing I can do.
You’re right that this role is about helping bring my product vision to life. That’s hard work—but it can be really rewarding, too. I try to keep interviews casual and focused on fit over rigid Q&A. Sometimes that lands well, sometimes it doesn't.
