I was referred to the role by a recruiter after receiving positive interview feedback from a different product role.
I had done a phone screen with the recruiter for a different role so I was moved directly to a meeting with the hiring manager. We had one 30 minute call to discuss the position and my experience and ended up having a second 30 minute call to answer questions I had and discuss further.
After that I was moved to the team round which consisted of 4 x 30 minutes back to back calls with product stakeholders. The questions focused on experience, product management and teamwork.
Overall I enjoyed the conversations I had with the team members and it seemed like I would be a great fit.
I received a verbal offer a week after the team round with positive feedback and the promise of an official written offer within 48 hours.
The following 2 weeks consisted of emails that amounted to “we’re working on it” with no offer. After that, communication dwindled.
My follow ups went unanswered for another 2 weeks until a different recruiter finally responded. They had decided to “pause” hiring for the role even though I had completed the interview process and received a verbal offer. The position is also still posted on their job board as well as other job sites.
It seems that the company does not take hiring seriously and is in the business of wasting candidates’ time. I accommodated all interview timelines and even took PTO to be present for those interviews. The process was incredibly disrespectful and I genuinely laughed when they said they hoped that this experience didn’t leave a bad impression.
