Interview
I applied for the Merchant Monitoring Analyst position at LegitScript, based in Portland, OR, and received a response just four days later. Following an initial screening, I participated in an interview with two hiring managers. The interview proceeded smoothly and was conversational, with a focus on understanding my qualifications and how they aligned with the role. As part of the interview process, I was asked to demonstrate my sleuthing skills on the web, which took approximately 5–10 minutes. I was initially informed that a recruiter would reach out to me by the beginning of the week. After receiving no update, I followed up with a recruiter and was later told that they were waiting for additional candidates to begin their interviews due to scheduling conflicts on the candidates’ end. A week later, I ultimately received a rejection email, even though the hiring managers seemed interested in my skills and qualifications. This left me feeling as though my time and energy had been wasted throughout the month-long process, and I felt like I was a backup option before anyone else accepted their offer.

Question 1
Can you walk me through your experience and how it relates to this role?
Interview process was great. Started with recruiter phone interview. From there, had interview with team manager about high-level questions. The last part was a technical interview conducted with the team I would be working with.

Question 1
Can you explain a few different ways you can trigger a lambda function?
I applied via their website and was very pleased to get a request to review within the week. I met with the hiring manager for a screening interview and we had a nice conversation about the job, what I was looking for, LegitScript, the work itself, etc. It sounded interesting and I was interested in moving forward. The hiring manager to confirm my current location because of the remote work situation, which I did. She said she'd have to get back to me because of legal/tax purposes.
So you can imagine my disappointment at getting a rejection the next day telling me that I was not eligible. I understand these things can be complicated, but my location is in the resume. While I am glad I did not spend hours in the process (this screening interview was by video) and did not have to go through the writing exercise and additional interview(s), this was pretty frustrating.
As I said, I was interested in moving forward but I also acknowledge it was probably for the best (if you read the reviews there are multiple complaints that did concern me). It appears they can do much better in both the hiring process and in the actual employment experience.

Question 1
Questions about my resume/experiences, what sort of work environment was best for me, what I was looking for in terms of work experience, how I felt about adapting to new processes to create the products and reports necessary. Nothing shocking and it was a back and forth conversation that I found helpful in getting to know the position/company better.
